City Island businesses prepare for July 4

City Island businesses are preparing for a busy Fourth of July on Tuesday.
One big draw to the neighborhood is its waterfront seafood restaurants such as City Island Lobster House, owned by Jojo Mandarino. He says the weather will be key to most people's enjoyment on the Fourth. Mandarino also says his outdoor tables fill up quickly and that he stocked up with 8,900 pounds of lobster.
Down the road just a few minutes is Lickety Split Ice Cream. Shop owner Louise Giacco says she's ordered more than a dozen extra tubs of ice cream for the big day.
If there's one thing that can put a damper on the day's proceedings, it’s traffic. With only one lane on and one lane off the island, people coming to enjoy the day can face hours of traffic. Some residents say they don't understand the draw, especially with plenty of waterfront options in Brooklyn or Queens.
Even with the expected traffic, business owners say they are ready for the crowds.
