Tenants of a Highbridge complex say they are fed up with their elevator that has been broken for about a month.

The residents say their Noona Plaza elevator was shut down without warning. The building is located on West 168th Street.

Elisha Bouret, who is eight months pregnant, says going up and down the stairs from her fifth-floor apartment is becoming dreadful. She says the only answer she gets is that the elevator sensors are not working. There's a posted sign stating the elevator was shut down by the fire department.

News 12 also spoke with a senior couple who have been in the complex for more than 30 years. They say they feel frustrated, especially when one of them has their weekly dialysis appointment.

A person in the building's management office says the elevator is indeed in need of major repairs and showed News 12 the order that was sent. She could not provide an answer on how long those repairs would take.

A spokesperson for the city Department of Buildings says the complex has received a violation in the past due to the broken elevator. They say the department would send someone to inspect the elevator Wednesday night to determine further action.
