Officials unveil sidewalk repairs in Williamsbridge

Department of Transportation and NYCHA officials on Tuesday unveiled more than 35,000 square feet of redone sidewalks and more than 2,000 feet of repaired curb space on East Gun Hill Road between White Plains and Holland Avenue.
City Councilman Andy King allocated more than $500,000 for the project, which took nine months of planning and three weeks to put in place.
Local leaders and community members say that although sidewalks can often be taken for granted, they are vital to make sure residents have a safe place to walk.
Officials say the sidewalk project is one of many steps they're taking to improve daily life for residents. Among those improvements are LED street lights that have already been installed on White Plains Road.
