City officials broke ground Wednesday at the site of the new Bronx Children's Museum.

The museum had previously used a bus to bring arts and sciences to children across the borough for 12 years, but never had a permanent brick and mortar home.

The 13,000-square-foot museum will be located at the former Bronx hub building at Mill Pond Park. It's expected to teach lessons on science, art and nature to 75,000 kids every year.

Developers obtained more than $16 million in state and private funding for the project.

It's expected to open in late 2018.
