Police shoot man armed with gun in Crown Heights

A 20-year-old man was shot by police early Friday morning in Brooklyn, after they say he charged at them with a gun.
The incident happened on  Rochester Avenue between Park Place and Sterling Place around 1:30 a.m.
Officers with the Brooklyn North Gang unit were on patrol when they say they heard several shots being fired about a block away.
Upon further investigation, the officers say they witnessed a man running from another man who had a gun.
The man with the gun fired several more shots before turning back in the officers’ direction.
According to police, officers ordered the man to stop, but he kept running toward them.
Police say a sergeant fired at least two shots, striking the suspect in the thigh.
The suspect ran down the block, but later collapsed and was taken into custody.
He was transported to Brookdale Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
Police say they also recovered a .25 cal. handgun at the scene.
