THE BRONX -

A young Bronx man has been taken into custody in connection to a 2015 sexual assault in a South Bronx clothing store.

Oumar Fofana, 20, faces charges of attempted rape and sex abuse.

Investigators accuse him of trying to rape a 41-year-old female clerk in the store at the time. She was able to fend off the attack, police say.

When asked by reporters whether he was responsible for the attack, Fofana appeared to admit to the crime.

"Yes," he said. "You don't want to be like me."

Fofana was still in high school at the time of the crime. Police say he lived in an apartment building on Third Avenue.
