Staycations popular with Bronx residents this summer

Posted: Updated:
GRAND CONCOURSE -

With countless hidden gems tucked away in the Bronx, some Bronx residents are choosing to vacation close to home this summer.

Members of the Bronx Tourism Council want people to know that the Bronx is a travel destination and many residents are taking notice.

The Bronx is home to world class cultural institutions like the Bronx Museum of Arts and the world famous botanical gardens. You can even go fishing or scuba diving on City Island.

"Well City Island really thrives in the summertime, City Island is our little Nantucket with an attitude as I call it," says Olga Luz Tirado, of the Bronx Tourism Council.

For those who love wildlife, there's the Bronx Zoo or the aquarium. The Bronx has many choices for anyone trying to enjoy a staycation.
