Countdown clocks provide relief to bus riders

Commuters in Morris Heights say they are glad to see new countdown clocks at bus stops, although the city Department of Transportation is still working out the kinks.
The DOT installed four countdown clocks at bus stops throughout the Bronx in late June, and more are soon expected. Unlike typical bus schedules, the real-time clocks use GPS tracking to alert riders whether their bus is early or late.
However, there are currently some caveats with the new system -- a Soundview spelling error that residents say they find more comic than offensive and a system designed for the hearing impaired that News 12 could not get to work.
The DOT says it is working on fixing the spelling error. Still, residents say they're happy with the implemented changes.
