Police: Man attempted to rape 13-year-old girl in the Bronx

A man is accused of attempting to rape a 13-year-old girl in the Bronx, just a day after a 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in the borough.
The incident happened near Southern Boulevard and Leggett Avenue Monday around 10:45 p.m.
Police say the 13-year-old girl was followed into a residential building by the suspect where he cornered her inside of a stairwell and attempted to place his hands down her pants.
The suspect attempted to forcibly remove the girl’s clothing, but police say the teen resisted and fought the man off before he ran away.
The incident comes just a day after a 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a man in the Concourse Village section of the borough.
Police say the two incidents are not related to each other.
