Drivers blame bridge work for increased traffic

Residents of some Bronx streets say an overflow of traffic has been clogging up their areas ever since the city rolled out plans for cashless tolls on seven MTA bridges.
Some drivers are blaming construction related to the system on the Whitestone, RFK Triborough and Throgs Neck bridges.
State Assemblyman Michael Benedetto says the MTA blamed high traffic Friday on an accident near the Whitestone Bridge -- but many residents say it's an everyday occurrence.
Benedetto says work zones have shifted from the center to right lanes to help improve traffic flow. Still, drivers are urged to plan ahead until the work is completed sometime this fall.
