Community celebrates Pakistan’s independence

Hundreds of people flocked to the Bronx on Sunday to celebrate Pakistan’s independence.
The celebration took place at Bronx Park East with music, dancing and food.
The event, which is in its fourth year, was hosted by the Pakistan Bronx Community Council.
Pakistan gained independence from the British on Aug. 14, 1947. Residents say it’s a symbolic year, since it’s been 70 years since Pakistan claimed its land and also separated from India.
Organizers say the event was all about peace and unity. They also wanted others to come out and learn about their culture.
