Uniondale man accused of taking pictures up woman's dress in Garden City

A Uniondale man was in court Sunday after being accused of taking pictures up a woman's dress, and police say it’s the second time this year he has been arrested on such charges.
Jonathan Vega, 25, was arrested Saturday for allegedly using a cellphone to look up a woman's skirt at the intersection of Eleventh Street and County Seat Drive in Garden City back in June.
After the 24-year-old victim asked Vega what he was doing, police say he became violent, pushing the woman and then running off.
One month ago, Vega was arrested for allegedly committing a similar crime at a bus stop in Uniondale. Police say in that case, he used the phone to look under a woman's skirt before allegedly forcibly touching her.
Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford) says he introduced a bill several years ago that would have required cellphones to make a clicking sound whenever a photo is taken, but the measure was never made into law.
"I don't know what the exact answer to it is. But the more we can be aware of it, the more we can make young people aware it's happening, that was the purpose of the legislation," he says.
Vega was charged with harassment and unlawful surveillance.
