Best of the Bronx: Friends offer pickup service for disaster relief

THE BRONX -

Friends Annie Minguez and Amanda Septimo have come together to offer a donation pickup service for victims of recent natural disasters.

"We thought that maybe we should come up with a donation drive where we can go to people and pick up goods," says Septimo says. "We were thinking about folks who might be disabled and maybe couldn't get there and...seniors and had limited mobility...or people who were just too busy."

The duo has traveled throughout the city, going to homes, schools and organizations.

They've packed up their cars and U-Haul trucks with canned goods, toiletries, diapers, flashlights, batteries, clothes and more to be dropped at fire and police stations.
