A 22-year-old Bronx father's life was cut short Friday after police say he was shot dead inside of his home.
The incident happened inside the victim’s Bronx Boulevard apartment around 8 a.m., police say.
Police have not officially confirmed the identity of the victim, but neighbors tell News 12 his name is Raul Melendez, 22, a neighborhood man who was intimately known as ‘Frenchie’ due to his light complexion and hair.
Melendez’s mother found him shot twice inside of his home Friday morning, police say. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Friends close to the family say Melendez just celebrated his birthday two days ago and recently became a father to a baby boy last month. He worked as a janitor.
Police say no arrests have been made.
