The lottery for a new affordable housing development in West Farms is now open.

There are 180 units up for grabs in two buildings right off the Cross Bronx Expressway -- 1939 West Farms Road and 1926 Longfellow Ave. When complete, the units will be a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

Rents start at $482 a month and increase depending on a tenant's income bracket, with the highest rent being $1,647.

Residents who already live within Community Board 6 will be given preference on half of all available units.

Prospective tenants have until Jan. 5 to apply.
