Police say they fatally shot a man suspected of stabbing two security guards on Hughes Avenue Monday evening.
Authorities say they received a call around 7:45. The shooting happened in the lobby of 1974 Hughes Ave., a low-income housing facility.
The two guards, both females, were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital. They are expected to survive.
Afterward, police tweeted that there were no additional "outstanding suspects."
The scene, near Hughes Avenue and 178th Street, contained a number of witnesses and sits near a Rite Aid pharmacy and grocery store. Witnesses say they heard screaming before the altercation.
