NYPD sergeant injured after being struck by vehicle

A female NYPD sergeant was responding to a shooting Saturday night when she sustained injuries by a vehicle, police say. 
Police say that the female officer was responding to a call of someone shot when she sustained injures by a car near 2274 Washington Ave. around 10 p.m. 
Though details surrounding the incident remain unclear, News 12 was told that the sergeant may have been pinned by a vehicle.
Police say an 18-year-old male suspect shot himself in the leg while trying to flee the scene
The suspect is facing various charges, including assault on a police officers, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.
The officer was admitted to St. Barnabas with non-life threatening injuries.
