City proposes expansion of Select bus service routes

A new proposal for Select bus service routes in the borough could make for less commuter headaches.
The MTA and the city's Department of Transportation says five routes in Brooklyn would benefit from Select bus service.
They say it would speed up bus service by 30 percent by implementing bus-only lanes, less stops, all-door boarding and paying fares before boarding.
The proposed plan predicts that if the Select bus service expands citywide, the amount of riders using the bus would double to 800,000 people per day.
Proposed routes in Brooklyn include connecting Downtown Brooklyn to Mill Basin, Church Avenue, several connectors between east and west in South Brooklyn, and a route to John F. Kennedy International Airport.
