Report names Brooklyn intersection most dangerous in the state

Residents near the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and Tillary Street are frustrated over dangerous conditions for commuters.
The intersection was named the most dangerous intersection in New York  by a Chicago-based firm studying traffic statistics in the area.
The crossing is only a few blocks away from the Brooklyn Bridge. Vehicles come from all different directions as traffic converges from the Manhattan Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.
The corner has been the site of 425 collisions since 2012, according to NYPD data. The most recent fatal accident was in April 2013 when a driver turning left hit a motorcyclist.
While there are traffic police and turning signals, people in the area want more to be done.
As part of Mayor Bill de Blasio's Vision Zero Plan, the Department of Transportation will widen the pedestrian entrance to the Brooklyn Bridge, install new crosswalks and 50 trees. Those updates are expected to be done by the summer of next year.
