Jewish people around the world began celebrating the first night of Hanukkah on Tuesday.
Bronx residents stopped at the Riverdale Kosher Market to pick up some last-minute items for their celebrations.
Ralph Haber, owner of Carlos and Gabby's, a kosher Mexican restaurant in Riverdale, says that despite being busy, this is his favorite time of year.
"What's not to love -- eight days you get to open presents every night," he said. "Now I get to spoil my children every night."
At Zaro's Family Bakery in Port Morris, the longtime Bronx business is commemorating the holiday with Hanukkah-inspired blue and white treats like cupcakes and cookies, as well as special jelly doughnuts.
