A Yonkers woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for dropping her newborn out of a seventh-floor Bronx apartment window, killing her.

Jennifer Berry, 35, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the September 2015 death. She pleaded guilty to manslaughter instead of a murder charge, for which she was facing 15 years to life in prison.

Prosecutors say Berry had just given birth in the bathroom of the apartment where she was staying. A medical examiner ruled the child was alive during birth. The baby's body was discovered in a courtyard of an apartment building on West 183rd Street with the umbilical cord still attached.

Berry's lawyer says she was a victim of domestic abuse who was suffering from psychiatric problems. Her family did not wish to speak with News 12.

Berry was also sentenced to five years of probation.
