Winter weather advisory issued for NYC
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for New York City as snow showers move into the area.
Commuters are urged to use caution during the evening commute with the snow making for slippery, messy, and icy conditions.
The snow is expected to fall into the early evening and leave a coating to 2 inches on the ground, according to News 12 meteorologists. The winter weather advisory will be in effect from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Areas east and south of the city may see a bit more snow. The east end of Long Island may see 2-3 inches of snow, and areas south of I-195 in New Jersey may see between 2-4 inches. Areas north and west are likely to see a trace to a coating of snow. Black ice will be an issue overnight into tomorrow with lows near 26.
The weekend doesn't look bad, but milder weather is on the way as the weather pattern looks to change for the second half of the month. A warm front on Sunday night will bring temperatures in the mid- to upper-40's for Monday and Tuesday.
