Here's where to recycle your tree after Christmas

Posted: Updated:
THE BRONX -

Although Christmas is still two days away, many people are already thinking about where they can recycle their Christmas tree.

The city offers several different options for residents.

Sanitation crews will also be collecting Christmas tress curbside from Jan. 2 to Jan. 13. Trees left curbside must not be placed in bags.

Another option is to attend a Mulchfest event to recycle the tree. Attendees can also take home mulch to use in their gardens.

Mulchfest will be Jan. 6 and Jan. 7 at different locations around the city.

All the recycled trees will be turned into compost for parks, gardens and greenspaces around the city.

Officials say that no matter how a tree is recycled, the owner must remove all stands, tinsel, lights and ornaments beforehand.
