THE BRONX -

A car crash involving a tractor-trailer leaves a man and his girlfriend seriously injured.

Authorities say the accident happened two weeks ago, when Alwin Martinez’s car broke down on the side of I-95. A tractor-trailer hit the vehicle causing it to explode.

Martinez’s girlfriend, Yesenia Camacho, was at the scene helping out Martinez before the car was struck.

Martinez’s lawyer Stanford Rubenstein, says Martinez has had both of his legs amputated and Camacho is at risk for losing one leg.

The couple has not filed a lawsuit against the driver but Rubenstein says the option is still available to them.
