Heightened security planned for Times Square NYE celebration

NEW YORK -

If you plan on ringing in the New Year in Times Square you will have a lot of company.

The city will have thousands of uniformed and undercover police officers as well as snipers during the festivities.

There will also be metal detectors and bomb sniffing dogs.

Side streets and parking garages will also be emptied and blocked off.
