Van Cortlandt Park mostly empty as temps plummet

Van Cortlandt Park was empty Friday after a winter storm layered the borough with snow.
The popular park is often busy year-round, but high winds and low temperatures seemed to keep most people indoors.
One brave resident did make it out to enjoy some cross-country skiing.
"If you're bundled properly then it's not that bad, plus you're breaking out a little of a sweat because you're exercising," says Lauren Bednarz-Scott.
Only a few other residents were seen working out at the park.
Officials warn that anyone heading out should layer up because frostbite can set in fast during the subzero temperatures.
