Instructor teaches self-defense with everyday items

A Bronx man is promoting self-defense to make sure residents are prepared for whatever may come.
Lamar McKay has been teaching self-defense for almost a decade. He says he hears of violent attacks that happen in the borough and around the city, and he wants to give people a fighting chance at survival.
McKay says anyone can get caught off guard, so you should always be prepared.
His students learn to use tools that most will have on their person, including makeup, keys and anything else that can cause trauma to an attacker.
McKay says he gets students from various backgrounds -- those who have been raped, those dealing with domestic violence and those who have been exposed to other types of violence.
McKay says his goal is to open up a training facility so he can be more available to those in the community.
