Car bursts into flames on Cross Bronx Expressway

THE BRONX -

A car burst into flames on the Cross Bronx Expressway early Wednesday, according to officials.

The incident happened in the westbound lane of the Cross Bronx Expressway near Jerome Avenue around 6:30 a.m. 

Witnesses say the car burst into flames, and the driver jumped out.

Heavy black smoke coming from the car could be seen in the area.

Fire officials say there were no reported injuries.
