Local officials and The Shadow League Media Company invited Bronx children to a free screening of "Black Panther" on Friday at the Multiplex Cinemas.
The highly anticipated movie is garnering long lines and moviegoers tell News 12 they are excited to see an all-black cast of comic superheroes.
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. told News 12 it’s important for young children to experience the movie and have role models in their lives.
"The reality of it is, we have to teach our children who we are, where we come from and let them be exposed to heroes, whether they are mythical heroes or real life heroes," said Diaz.
The highly anticipated movie was released Friday and is already breaking records with $25.2 million in previews on Thursday.
Analysts say "Black Panther" is on track to break more records during its opening weekend.
