Kids enjoy 'Winter Olympics' at Van Cortlandt Park

THE BRONX -

Kids went to Van Cortlandt Park's recreation center Tuesday to take part in a local rendition of the Winter Olympics.

The event allowed the kids to learn about and participate in the games they've been watching on TV.

The young Olympians competed in a variety of events that included ice skating, using sheets to slide and race across the floor; curling with broomsticks; and mini-bobsledding.

Parents say it was a great way to keep their kids busy while school is out.
