Borough president asks for burn unit in Brooklyn

After recent deadly fires in the borough, officials are asking for a burn unit to be brought to a Brooklyn hospital.
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams says burn victims waste time traveling to a burn unit in another borough. He says having one located in Brooklyn could save a life.
There are burn units located in the Bronx, Manhattan and Staten Island.
“We just need the city to include in their budget another $10 million so that we can have the burn unit up and running,” says Adams.
Burn centers are trained and equipped to provide treatment for a wide variety of burns, like electrical and chemical.
The mayor’s office says they are reviewing Adams’ request.
