Police: Bronx student threatened to shoot up high school

A Bronx student has been arrested after authorities say he threatened to shoot up his high school.
Police say the 15-year-old student was arrested Wednesday night and is being charged with making terroristic threats against the Bronx Center for Science and Mathematics.
Officers say that teenager went on the app "Kik" in December where he made comments about being bullied at school. According to investigators, he wrote that he was going to buy a weapon and kill at everyone the high school.
Representatives at Kik alerted the authorities to those comments, and the NYPD began investigating. When that 15-year-old student was arrested Wednesday night, police say he had bulletproof gear and had attempted to buy a gun online illegally.
Police say the case is expected to be tried in family court.
The Bronx Center for Science and Mathematics was recognized as one of America's best high schools as recently as 2016.
