Police search for 3 men accused of assaulting barber in Tremont

TREMONT -

The search is underway for a trio police say is responsible for assaulting a barber in Tremont.

Police say a 53-year-old barber was attacked after his customer refused to pay him.

They say the fight broke out inside the barbershop on East Tremont Avenue after the customer hit the barber with a brush.

The fight continued outside, where the customer and two of his friends allegedly continued to beat up the older man with a baseball bat.

All three of the attackers left the scene in a Nissan Altima with New Jersey license plates.

The barber was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he received 15 stitches.

Investigators say the customer was wearing a New Jersey Devils hoodie, another suspect was in a denim jacket and the third was wearing a baseball hat.
