Break-dancing is staying alive and bringing a positive outlet to New York City youth thanks to a self-funded group.

Kids of New York brings 1980s break-dancing to young kids in different age groups.

The group's event invites the community to savor the old days when people could break dance at the park with only a piece of cardboard beneath their feet.

News 12 is told some of the kids at the event are keeping the history alive also by participating in b-boy competitions.
