The Allerton International Merchants Association named its new president earlier this month.

Varahn Chamblee says she is no stranger to Allerton.

Chamblee works at a salon on Allerton Avenue and says she knows most of the merchants in the neighborhood.

The Brooklyn native says she is ready to take on the duties of her new position. 

"My vision is to make sure the merchants make money, that they come to the meetings and see what's going on and get information that can help them improve their businesses," Chamblee says.

Business owners in Allerton say the Allerton International Merchants Association helped put Allerton Avenue on the map and they look forward to continued success.
