Two men shot up a Bridgeport deli Tuesday, police say, and one of them accidentally blasted his accomplice's arm with an AR-15 rifle.
News 12 has obtained surveillance video that police say shows the two men who carried out the attack at 10 p.m. Tuesday at the Sunshine Deli on Stratford Avenue.
It shows one man armed with the rifle and the other with a handgun.
According to police, the two men opened fire into the deli from outside, striking one victim in the hand and the other in the backside. And the man with the rifle accidentally shot his accomplice, nearly severing his arm.
"We don't have access to grocery stores, so for this type of violence to happen in this type of location, it just heightens the desire for people to leave the East End," says Kenneth Moales, the pastor at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit.
Police say the uninjured gunman dropped his partner off at a hospital and then fled. He remains at large.
"It appears from this video that the individual that was holding the weapon didn't know how to shoot and ended up shooting his own partner, the other guy that was shooting the store," says Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
