National protests prompt school walkouts in the Bronx

National protests against gun violence and the call for school safety prompted students to walk out of classrooms in the Bronx Wednesday.
Students from the High School of American Studies marched from Moshalu Parkway to Harris Field and met with classmates from Bronx Science and DeWitt Clinton high schools.
The walkouts are part of a national movement sparked by the deadly mass shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida last month.
Walkouts and gatherings at schools continue across the country as more and more students are urging legislative action against guns, and for school safety in order to prevent further acts of violence.
