Paramedic accused of sexually assaulting woman in ambulance

An FDNY paramedic has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a woman while she was in the back of his ambulance on the way to the hospital.
Police say Karel Delgado most recently worked at FDNY EMS station 26 in Morrisania during his 10 years with the fire department.
The 36-year-old EMS worker was walked out of the 41st Precinct Monday after being arrested Sunday. He is accused of assaulting a patient while on the job Saturday afternoon.
Police say it happened inside an ambulance while taking a sick 43-year-old woman to the hospital.
During the drive, officials say Delgado asked to examine her and she agreed, but at some point during the exam, he pulled down her pants, touched her inappropriately with his hands and then sexually assaulted her with his genitals.
The woman reported the alleged misconduct, and Delgado has been charged with sex abuse, committing a criminal sex act and forcible touching.
Officials say Delgado is facing a maximum of 30 days suspension without pay while the case moves forward.
