New York City Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza is continuing his tour to meet public school students throughout the city.

Carranza, who took over the role after Carmen Farina, stopped in the Bronx Monday and was in Brooklyn on Tuesday. While at the Brooklyn Studio Secondary School, he sat with News 12 and chatted about how he and his wife made Brooklyn their home after leaving Houston.

"It felt right, it felt comfortable, it felt home," he says.

Carranza says he wants to make sure students have access to the resources at Thrive NYC, a mental health program. He's also working with the NYPD to come up with new school security plans.

Carranza also says school desegregation is on his list of topics to address. He says he's working to have more people of color get in and graduate from the city's specialized high schools.

While he's not looking to implement any new policies yet, Carranza says he will observe for now, as well as check out some delicious eats around the city.
