Teen rescued from burning SUV, charged with DWI

Police say they rescued a trapped Medford teen from her burning SUV in East Patchogue.
Police say Mercedes Ramos was driving drunk when she crashed into the back of a Mack truck on Sunrise Highway near Exit 53 this morning.
Investigators say the 19-year-old’s SUV was dragged by the truck and went up in flames.
News 12 has been told two Good Samaritans along with Highway Patrol officers Richard Gandolfo and John McCrory rescue her from the vehicle.
Ramos was treated for burns and smoke inhalation and charged with DWI.
