School worker reassigned after sexual misconduct claims

A Bronx school employee has been reassigned following allegations he inappropriately touched a student.
The alleged 14-year-old victim was attending Saturday school at I.S. 219 on Third Avenue when the alleged incident occurred.
News 12 spoke with the alleged victim's older sister, who says their family learned of the alleged encounter with a math coach after finding a diary entry in the teen's room days after a report had been filed.
"The professor asked her to stay a little longer after all the kids left," the sister says. "He proceeded to close the shade of the windows and he asked her to sit on his lap...she was really nervous and he started kissing her."
A Department of Education spokesperson says in a statement: "These troubling allegations have no place in our schools and he was immediately reassigned away from students pending the outcome of an investigation."
News 12 was able to confirm the name of the math coach with the DOE but has chosen to withhold it until the Bronx Special Victims Unit conducts its own investigation.
