Morris Heights step street to get first update in 103 years

The step street on West Tremont Avenue in Morris Heights will see its first major renovation in more than a century.
City officials say the pathway, which connects Cedar and Sedgewick avenues, was last overhauled in 1915.
Since then, the handrails have broken, the cobblestones have slipped and neighbors have been begging for an upgrade.
So the city will spend $8 million to redo the steps. The fix includes 70 new steps, handrails, benches and lighting.
Work is scheduled for completion in October 2019.
