A Trumbull middle schooler who helped organize an anti-violence walkout following the shooting in Parkland, Florida, is now reiterating her call for gun control after another massacre in Santa Fe, Texas.
Chelsea Morton plays viola, enjoys books and says she likes to challenge herself academically -- all things she does at Hillcrest Middle School in Trumbull. And when she grows up, she wants to be the secretary-general of the United Nations.
But she says she's worried about what could happen between now and then.
"I feel unsafe in my school," she says. "They said this will never happen again, and they will do everything they can to prevent it...Then I heard about the Texas shooting, and it put me to my breaking point."
At school, she says, students practice lockdown drills and hiding.
"We can see those may not be working right now," she says.
Chelsea and her mom, Kathy Williamson, want metal detectors and more severe gun laws to help.
