#N12BX: Plastic straw ban

NEW YORK -

A New York City councilman wants to ban plastic straws in the city.

New York City Council Member Rafael Espinal announced legislation to ban the straws at eating and drinking establishments.

Espinal says restaurants should be prohibited from offering single-use plastic straws to customers. with certain exceptions for people with disabilities.

He is being supported by the Wildlife Conservation Society and other environmental advocacy groups.
