Death of 3-year-old boy ruled a homicide, stepfather arrested

An arrest has been made in the homicide of a 3-year-old boy inside a Bronx home.
A city medical examiner has ruled that the boy died of blunt-force trauma to his head.
The incident happened Thursday inside of 1725 Bruckner Blvd. at the Sotomayor Houses around 11:30 p.m.
Police say they responded to a 911 call for a child that needed help inside of the home.
Investigators say they arrived and found Messiah Allen, 3, unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to his face and chest.
Police say the boy's stepfather was also seen trying to revive the child by performing CPR, but was unsuccessful.
Allen was transported to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The stepfather, Kenneth Lynch, is in custody and is facing manslaughter charges.
Police say Lynch told officers Friday the injuries they found on the boy were “old injuries...from falling out of a stroller.”
Children Services released a statement saying quote "we are saddened by the news of this tragedy and are investigating this fatality along with the NYPD."
