Police: 1 injured after pursuit, shots fired in Kensington

An investigation is underway in Kensington after a police pursuit and shots fired.
Authorities tell News 12 it all happened around 11 p.m. Friday when a large argument broke out once a party boat ride ended.
Police say they responded to reports of a fight and shots fired at 58th Street and First Avenue when the boat unloaded its passengers.
They say they recovered a semi-automatic handgun and baseball bat at the scene.
News 12 is told officers then pursued a vehicle driving off recklessly.
The vehicle crashed into a car carrying three passengers on Avenue C but kept going. The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Mohammad Sarwar, who tells News 12 that the suspect crashed into his car when he was driving home from Ramadan prayers with his two children.
Shortly after, the suspect smashed into an empty parked car. Police say it was an officer approaching the vehicle in pursuit that ultimately fired one round, injuring the driver’s left pinky.
News 12 is told that police are questioning the suspect, who is recovering at Lutheran Hospital.
Sarwar and his children are expected to be OK.
