Hundreds filled the intersection of East 212th Street and Dekalb Avenue Tuesday night to remember Damion Gilbert, an 18-year-old who was fatally stabbed there.
Police say Gilbert’s stabbing took place during an altercation just after midnight Tuesday.
Surveillance video shows him falling to the ground as a shocked crowd circles his body. He grips his stomach as he bleeds, and bystanders call police for help.
There are reports and video showing Gilbert falling off the stretcher as EMTs tend to him. The FDNY is looking into the medical response.
A spokesperson said the EMTs involved are not under investigation.
Gilbert was one of the original members of the Bronx Knights football program. The team expressed its condolences after his death.
