MORRISANIA -

A garden in Morrisania welcomed neighbors Friday to celebrate its first major renovation since the 1980s.

The 13,000-square-foot garden has been updated to include 24 garden beds, a chicken coop, solar panels, composting and all types of inclusive play and work spaces for adults and children.

Elected officials and community members gathered to officially mark the opening of the updated garden.

The garden was founded back in 1981 by the Police Athletic League. This is its first major renovation since then.
