Autopsy performed on Stamford woman found dead

An autopsy was performed Tuesday for a Stamford woman found dead in her home Monday morning, but police have not released the results.
Hycliff Terrace, located off of Halliwell Drive in the city's Westover neighborhood, remained closed until about 2 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators returned for a second day to collect evidence.
The deceased is a woman in her 70s. Police have not identified her, but property records show the home is owned by Allen and Eden Claxton. Neighbors confirmed that they're the home's residents.
Police say it was the woman’s husband who called 911. A neighbor says she saw the husband walk to an ambulance -- with blood on his shirt, a bloody head and a bruise on his eye -- after police arrived.
Police say he remains in the hospital but won't comment on whether he's being questioned in connection with the death.
An email from the homeowner's association told neighbors there was no immediate threat to the neighborhood.
Neighbors describe the Claxtons as quiet and kind and that they never expected them to become the center of a police investigation. They say the couple was often seen taking walks and gardening.
Police are remaining tight-lipped about what happened in the home but do say prosecutors have been on scene and that their investigation is ongoing.
