Boogie Down Bites: Ajo y Oregano

A Dominican restaurant in the Bronx has gained a reputation for its coziness, intimate environment, and delicious food.
Ajo y Oregano on White Plains Road in Parkchester includes ingredients like garlic and oregano in its food, something owners say almost any Dominican restaurant uses.
But it's their family touch that sets them apart.
The interior of the restaurant is painted with bright and refreshing colors.
Owner Enver Perez says Ajo y Oregan brings the recipes and spirit of the Dominican Republic right to the Bronx.
The restaurant is family run, and many of the dishes they serve are household staples they hope will bring customers a sense of nostalgia.
The restaurant brings in large crowds of customers to try their food.  Owners say their most popular appetizers, the Chimi sliders, are their take on Dominican street food.
"One of our perks is that no one here has worked at restaurants so when they cook the food they cook like it’s for the family, because that is all they've ever done so I think that translates to the plate," Perez says.
The restaurant also has a variety of hot meals at the ready if you are on the go.
